Yobe police promotes spokesman, 75 others

The police command in Yobe has promoted its spokesman, Dungus Abdulkarim, and 75 other officers to new ranks.
The newly promoted officers were decorated by the commissioner of police in the state, Garba Ahmed, in Damaturu on Monday.
Mr Ahmed said that Mr Abdulkarim and six others were promoted to superintendents of police (SPs) from deputy superintendents of police (DSPs).
He said nine officers were promoted to chief superintendents of police (CSPs) from SPs, while 60 others got promoted to DSPs from assistant superintendents of police (ASPs).
The police commissioner urged the officers to reciprocate the gesture through their loyalty and enhanced productivity.
“You become loyal by adhering strictly to the procedures of the job.
“Without adhering to the procedures of the job, no matter your performance, you will end up on the wrong track,” he said.
Mr Ahmed warned the officers against ethno-religious sentiments in the discharge of their duties.
“Live above board and avoid tribal, religious and personal sentiments.
“Those of you who arrived at the coat of arms symbol of the federation, you should know your level. You can be asked to stand in for the commissioner of police.
“Therefore, you must behave in accordance with the rank you are wearing,” he said.
Speaking after the decoration, Mr Abdulkarim expressed gratitude for the promotion and promised to redouble his efforts.
“Promotion comes with additional responsibilities. I am aware of that and ready to perform the duties assigned to me without fear or favour,” he said.
The spokesman promised to rigorously implement community policing through effective collaboration with critical stakeholders.
