A tenant, Royal Titus, on Wednesday, appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State for malicious damage and threatening to harm his landlord.

Titus, 34, who resides in the Apete area of Ibadan, was charged with conspiracy and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace, malicious damage and threatening violence.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Iyabo Oladoyin told the court that the defendant committed the offences between May and November 25, 2024, at Apete area of Ibadan.

Oladoyin said that the defendant over the period always left his generator running throughout the night as against the community rules and regulations.

She said that this led to the landlord, Fatai Omorilewa, chiding the defendant on this.

“But rather than take to correction, Titus and others at large maliciously damaged the landlord’s Elepac generator and threatened him with violence,” the prosecutor said.

She said that the defendant by his actions conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.

The offences, Oladoyin said, contravened Sections 516, 249(d), 451 and 86 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Adebola Adeola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

She thereafter adjourned the case until February 11 for hearing.
