Police arraign man over alleged theft of bakery rolling wheel

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The police on Friday, arraigned 34-year-old Monday Aonduna before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a bakery rolling wheel.

Aonduna, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi told the court that the defendant committed the offence at about 11:30 p.m on December 31, 2024 in Osekita Area, Iworoko-Ekiti.

Mr Adeniyi alleged that the defendant stole one bakery rolling wheel, worth N300,000, property of one Onitekun Oluwasegun.

Mr Adeniyi said the offence contravened Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and assemble his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The Counsel for the defendant, Busuyi Ayorinde, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

In a ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

Babalogbon adjourned the case to February 13 for hearing.
