Senate confirms Okoye, Ma’aji, others for SEDC, NWDC boards

The Senate has confirmed all the nominees for the governing board of the South-East Development Commission (SEDC).
Also confirmed by the upper chamber are nominees of the North-West Development Commission (NWDC).
The Senate gave its final confirmation after the Ad hoc Committee on Regional Development Commissions, led by Orji Uzor Kalu (APC-Abia), submitted the report on its screening exercise.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio confirmed Mark Okoye and Abdullahi Ma’aji as the SEDC and NWDC’s managing directors and chief executive officers, respectively.
Mr Kalu said the nominees had proved their capacity to manage the affairs of the respective development commissions during the screening.
The Senate confirmed the 14 board member nominees of the NWDC led by Lawal Abdullahi as chairman of the commission and Abdullahi Ma’aji as managing director and chief executive officer.
Others are Yahaya Namahe, Aminu Suleiman, Ja’afar Abubakar Sadeeq, Yahaya Abdullahi, Muhammad Wudil, Shamsu Sule, Nasidi Ali, Chukwu Chijioke, Ahmed Mohammed, Ahmed Timasantyu, Macdonalds Uyi, and Babatunde Dada”.
Also confirmed are the 18-member nominees of the South-East Development Commission led by Emeka Nworgu, who was also confirmed as chairman and Mark Okoye as the managing director and chief executive officer.
Others are Ugochukwu Agballah, Okey Ezenwa, Hyacinth Ikpor, Chidi Echeazu, Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, Daniel Akwari, Stanley Ohajuruka, Sylvester Okonkwo, and Toby Okechukwu.
Also included are Anthony Agbo, Clifford Ogbede, Ali Kumo, Edward Onoja Oruro Inima, and Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.
