FG fixes Kebbi road connecting north, south

The federal government has commenced rehabilitation on the dilapidated Malando-Ngaski-Wara road in Kebbi and Auna in Niger State, linking the northern and southern parts of the country.
The managing director of Epsilon Sky Global Engineering Limited, Marcel Hattab, made this known when he was received by Kebbi Commissioner for Works, Abdullahi Umar-Faruk, during a familiarisation visit to Birnin Kebbi on Monday.
“We have commenced rehabilitation on the dilapidated Malando-Ngaski-Warra road in Kebbi to Auna, in Niger.
“The road is very strategic and important for economic and social activities, linking the northern and southern parts of the country.
“We have been assured, and we, too, will ensure that quality work is executed on the 76.5 kilometres federal road,” he said.
He also explained that the road would have concrete shoulders to stabilise it, two layers of asphalt and strong stone base layers, among others.
According to him, the road will be completed in less than the three years contractual period.
Mr Hattab thanked the federal government, Governor Nasir Idris, and the State Ministry of Works for the opportunity to rehabilitate the road. He assured that it would be completed within one and a half years.
“We are committed to executing the project according to the contractual specifications to enable it to stand the test of time,” he assured.
Responding, Mr Umar-Faruk lauded the efforts of the federal government and the engineer in charge of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in the state, Rilwanu Usman, for road rehabilitation and maintenance.
He said, “FERMA has been at the forefront in the collaborative strides to develop and maintain our infrastructure in the state.
“We have an onerous responsibility to bring development and social security to our state.”
The commissioner thanked President Bola Tinubu for awarding the project and assured that the state government would do everything humanly possible to assist in its execution.
Officials from the Federal Ministry of Works and FERMA accompanied the MD of the contracting firm.
