Kano assembly urges enforcement on completion of uncompleted building

The Kano State Assembly has urged the state government to take immediate action to enforce the completion of uncompleted buildings across the state.
This was sequel to a motion of urgent public importance moved by Tasiu Abubakar (NNPP-Kiru) and seconded by Sule Shuwaki (APC-Tudun-Wada) on Tuesday in Kano.
Mr Abubakar expressed concern over the rising number of stalled construction sites, which criminals were using as hideouts in the state.
He also noted that uncompleted buildings pose safety hazards to the public.
The lawmaker then called for stringent measures to compel property owners to complete their projects or repurpose the structures for other uses.
The lawmakers, in their various contributions, said the buildings have been a challenge for the maintenance and sustenance of a secured environment free from insecurity.
They added that any open space like those uncompleted structures was easily occupied by criminal elements.
The plenary, which was presided over by the speaker, Ismail Falgore, unanimously agreed and passed a motion calling on the state government to direct property owners to develop their uncompleted buildings across the state.
