President Donald Trump on Saturday said he ordered the U.S. military to launch air strikes on the top ISIS leader in Somalia.

Mr Trump, in a tweet, said the U.S. military air strikes killed many terrorists and destroyed their hideouts.

“This morning, I ordered precision Military air strikes on the senior ISIS attack planner and other terrorists he recruited and led in Somalia,” Mr Trump said.

“These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our allies. The strikes destroyed the caves they live in and killed many terrorists without, in any way, harming civilians.”

The American president described the air strikes as a strong message to other terrorist groups, warning that the U.S. would go after and kill them.

“The message to ISIS and all others who would attack Americans is that “We will find you, and we will kill you!” Mr Trump said.

The activities of terrorist groups have rocked Somalia in recent times.

U.S. air raid on terrorist hideouts in Somalia comes less than two weeks after Mr Trump assumed office. Mr Trump returned to the White House on January 20 for a second term.
