Police arraign two for stealing employer’s nylon

On Monday, two men, Habeeb Akinbolu (40) and Daniel Akinola (45), were brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for stealing a pack of nylon worth N30,000 belonging to their employer.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 10 at about 7:00 p.m. at Mercury Mill Company, Km 38, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ota.
Mr Adaraloye alleged that the defendants, who worked with Mercury Mill Company, were caught by security guards at the gatepost with a nylon pack valued at N30,000.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, granted each defendant bail in N10,000 with one surety each in like sum.
Ms Fadairo said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
She adjourned the case until March 4 for further hearing.
