Hamstring injury may cost Arsenal’s Kai Havertz rest of season

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz may be sidelined for the remainder of the season after tearing his hamstring in training, according to British media reports on Wednesday.
The injury is a major setback for Mikel Arteta’s side, which is already struggling with multiple absences in attack.
The Athletic reports that Havertz sustained the injury during Arsenal’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and would undergo further assessment to determine whether surgery was required.
The 25-year-old German joins a growing injury list that includes Gabriel Jesus (ACL), Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli (both hamstring injuries). Saka, who underwent surgery in December, is expected to return in March and travelled with the squad to Dubai, while Martinelli is set to be out for over a month after limping off in Arsenal’s League Cup semi-final loss to Newcastle United last week.
With Havertz and Martinelli sidelined, Arteta’s attacking options are limited to Leandro Trossard, Chelsea loanee Raheem Sterling, and academy prospect Ethan Nwaneri.
Arsenal opted not to sign reinforcements in the January transfer window, leaving them short of depth in attack at a crucial stage of the season.
Despite their injury woes, Arsenal remain second in the Premier League, trailing leaders Liverpool by six points, and are still competing in the Champions League last 16. They return to domestic action on Saturday with a trip to Leicester City in the Premier League.
