A 43-year-old man, Taoreed Oladele, was on Thursday arraigned at an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for an alleged land grabbing and causing damage valued at N2.5 million.

Oladele, whose address was not provided, is facing a 10-count charge bordering on land grabbing, threatening violence, malicious damage and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, told the court that the defendant committed the offences in December 2024, at Omi-Adio area of Ibadan.

Mr Lawal alleged that the defendant encroached on the property of one Abidemi Oni and threatened him with the intention of grabbing his land.

He alleged that the defendant maliciously damaged Mr Oni’s corner piece, signpost and pillars, valued at N2.5 million.

He alleged that Mr Oladele also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by preventing Oni from entering his land.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 6, 7 and 9 of Oyo State Real Property Protection Law, 2016 and Sections 451 and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until March 19, for hearing.
