Valentine: Foundation visits orphanage in Kwara, donates gift items

Estelle Education Foundation has visited City of Refuge F&G Orphanage Home, Ilorin in Kwara, to spread love, kindness and celebrate with the children in the spirit of Valentine’s day.
Valentine’s Day is celebrated annually on Feb.14.
Founder & Executive Director of the foundation, Ayomitide Ebo, during the visit on Friday, stated that the foundation chose the orphanage to achieve its vision.
Miss Ebo said, “Our foundation’s vision is to empower and uplift the less-privileged by providing equitable access to education, advancing personal development, promoting inclusivity, breaking the circle of poverty and illiteracy. We usually have different outreach, we pay school fees, we visit the disabled, but this time around, we are spreading love and kindness to the children at the orphanage home. They need to feel loved and they do not deserve to stay in one corner today because they do not have parents.’’
The Director of the orphanage, Precious Ajayi, called on government, private individuals, and organisations to support private orphanage homes because they served as succour to abandoned children.
Ms Ajayi said, “We started seven years ago with seven children, but now we have more than 50 children. The orphanage didn’t start as one. We were paying school fees of the less-privileged, but we found out we were not fulfilling the dream of impacting lives enough. It is challenging catering for the needs of the children because, at first, it was personally funded, but as time goes on, we started receiving donations and support from people. There is no amount of support that will come from anywhere that won’t be appreciated by us, because the children stay here and we cater for all their needs, which is tasking.’’
The foundation presented gifts such as cake, stationery, noodles, biscuits and drinks to the children. The children were also engaged in games such as questions and answers to lighten up their day.
