The Speaker, House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, assured that more institutions would be established for Zaria Federal Constituency in the 2025 budget.

The speaker disclosed the development during the 31st and 32nd Annual general meeting and public lecture of Zazzau Education Development Association (ZEDA) held in Zaria on Saturday.

He hinted that some of the planned schools would include primary and secondary schools for students with disability; Federal College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry among others.

Mr Tajudeen also made special endowment funds to the best graduating student in computer from Zazzau Emirate as well as best performing secondary school among others.

The speaker had earlier inaugurated the foundation laying ceremony of four Tertiary Federal Institutions within Zaria federal constituency to boost learning.

The four institutions were; Federal College of Education, Federal College of Health Science, Campus of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and Federal College of Legal Studies.

Mr Tajudeen, who lamented the delay in the payment of Special Scholarship Scheme for 2,500 Zazzau students, also announced additional slots of 3,000 students for the scheme in 2025.

He attributed the delay in payment of the scholarship to the delay in the implementation of 2024 budget, adding that the cohort would soon be paid as soon the funds became available.

The speaker also disclosed plans to construct and equip the proposed 1000 seater-capacity state-of-the-art event hall for the association.

Mr Tajudeen noted that human capital development remained the cornerstone of national development, hence the initiatives.

He, therefore, tasked the association to develop robust outreach initiatives that would foster mentorship programmes, teacher training workshops, and parent engagement sessions.

Earlier, the chairman of the central working committee, Abdul-alimi Bello, said the association had achieved significant milestones that reflect its commitment to educational excellence and community development.

“ZEDA has over the years grown into a leading NGO in Zazzau Emirate and beyond in both formal education and skills acquisition development,” he said.

In his remarks, the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmad Bamalli, tasked the association to leverage its resources to remain a beacon of hope and catalyst for change in the educational sector.

He, therefore, challenged officials to ensure judicious use of the association’s resources.
