Jigawa assembly passes Hisbah Board establishment bill into law

The Jigawa State House of Assembly has revoked the Hisbah Advisory Committee Law of 2004 to pave the way for the establishment of the Jigawa State Hisbah Board.
This followed the presentation and adoption of the House Committee on Religious Affairs report during Tuesday’s plenary in Dutse.
Abdu Ila-Muku (APC-Garki), the committee chairman who presented the report, emphasised that the committee had met with stakeholders and collected necessary data.
He explained that the law aimed to provide reforms that would strengthen the activities of Hisbah guards through legal backing.
The committee chairman said a robust Hisbah board would assist in neighbourhood surveillance, crime detection and prevention.
” It will restore moral values and ensure peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance,” he said.
The House clerk, Musa Abubakar, had conducted the third reading of the bill, and the speaker, Haruna Aliyu, passed the bill into law.
The speaker prayed that the law would increase the moral values of people in the state.
