Buhari to Nigerians: Pray for Pope Francis as he undergoes surgery

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerians and the global community to pray for the Catholic spiritual head, Pope Francis, as he undergoes surgery.
Mr Buhari, who has a history of repeated foreign medical trips and protracted ill health, sent a get-well message to Pope Francis, said his media aide, Garba Shehu.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a get-well message to the Head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, as he heads in for a scheduled surgery of the colon.
“The President called for prayers from Nigerians and the global community as the Pontiff goes in for this routine operation.
“He wishes him a quick recovery,” said Mr Shehu in a statement on Sunday.
Recently, Mr Buhari postponed his visit to London for a medical checkup.
The presidency had announced that Mr Buhari would travel to the UK on June 25.
The president’s last medical trip to London was in March.
