Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved reintroducing the monthly environmental sanitation exercise to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.

The secretary to the state government, Umar Ikhilor, announced this on Tuesday.

Mr Ikhilor said the renewed initiative would take place on the last Saturday of every month, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., beginning on April 26, 2025.

He said Mr Okpebholo’s directive reflected his administration’s commitment to promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for all Edo residents through active community participation.

“During the exercise, all human and vehicular movements will be restricted, except for those on essential duties, to ensure full compliance across the state,” Mr Ikhilor said.

He urged all residents to support the initiative by participating fully and keeping their surroundings clean and hygienic during the designated period.
