Jigawa govt. donates N2 million to families of slain hunters
The Jigawa state government has donated N2 million to the families of two hunters killed in the line of duty.
The deceased, Sabo Birniwa and Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, were members of the Hunter’s Council of Nigeria.
Bala Ibrahim, the secretary to the state government, said this while presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries, on Wednesday in Dutse.
Represented by Abdullahi Sa’idu, permanent secretary, administration and finance directorate, Mr Ibrahim said the gesture was not a compensation rather a token to express government’s concern and support to the bereaved families.
He highlighted the importance of such assistance in difficult times, and assured of the state government support to them.
Muhammad Idris, deputy commander administration, Hunter’s Council of Nigeria, eulogised the deceased as gentlemen, and prayed for the repose of their souls.
He commended the state government for the support to the bereaved families.
Musa Ibrahim, one of the sons of the deceased, commended the gesture and pledged to ensure fair distribution of the donation among the family members.
