North-East group hails troops for renewed onslaught on terrorists

The North-East Youth Renaissance Group has commended troops of the armed forces for the recent feat against Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the region.
This is contained in a statement by the group’s Secretary, Bello Alhaji, on Thursday in Abuja.
Mr Alhaji urged the troops to continue to decimate terrorists attacking communities in the region and entire country with more determination, as they have the support of the people.
He said the region was facing an unenviable situation with sad tales, adding that with the peoples’ support, the situation could be turned around by troops.
He said the commendation was in reaction to the recent failed attack on New Marte and the Forward Operating Base at Kumshe in Borno by ISWAP terrorists.
According to him, the failed Tuesday night attack left ISWAP fighters with at least 15 dead.
Mr Alhaji also commended the collaborative effort of the services, adding that the military under the leadership of Gen. Christopher Musa had shown capacity to not only defend the country, but take the battle to terrorists.
He said, “NYRG commends what has happened in Marte and Kumshe. It confirms our trust in the ability of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to defend our country. The renewed jointness and team spirit in the fight against terrorism will ultimately bring lasting peace to enable socio-economic activities thrive in the North-East region again. Our role as residents of the North-East is to continue to pray for and support our troops as they seek to turn around the unenviable situation our region finds itself now.’’
