The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on Sunday, dismissed a recruitment computer-based test shortlist and schedule circulating across social media platforms.

The customs public relations officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, discredited a statement gaining traction about the agency’s plan to hold a recruitment test in July, describing it as fraudulent and misleading.

“The NCS wishes to categorically state that the said press release is fraudulent, misleading, and did not emanate from the Nigeria Customs Service. At no time did the Service issue any such announcement regarding a CBT slated to take place in July 2025,” Mr Maiwada noted.

He said, “Upon close scrutiny, it is clear that the fake statement contains several discrepancies, particularly in its formatting. The e-signature format differs from our official standard, and the recruitment timeline mentioned shows a faulty structure that is not connected to any legitimate process.”

Urging members of the public to disregard the fake information, Mr Maiwada called for vigilance, noting that credible updates will be rightly communicated to interested Nigerians.

The spokesperson said the agency is currently investigating the origin of the false information and will hold those responsible accountable.

“The Service is taking steps to trace the origin of this false information and will take appropriate action to hold those responsible accountable. When the Service is set to begin the next phase of the recruitment process, the public will be duly notified through appropriate channels,” he added.

Mr Maiwada reaffirmed the customs service’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and the highest standards in its operations.
