Ebonyi assembly extends budget tracking to ministry of commerce

The Chairman of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts, Godwin Abiri, says the assembly is committed to enhancing public accountability in its fiscal management.
Mr Abiri said this on Wednesday in Abakaliki when the House Committee on Public Accounts extended budgeting tracking to the ministry of commerce and industry.
Mr Abiri, who is representing the Izzi West constituency, said the essence of legislative financial and fiscal budget tracking was to ensure accountability, transparency and effective management of public resources.
He said that budget tracking was in line with the statutory mandate of the committee.
He said that the aim was to monitor the activities of the ministries, departments and agencies to ensure strict compliance with the 2025 budget provisions.
The committee chairman commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for making the Ebonyi Pipe Production Industry Ezzamgbo functional, describing it as the most suitable for a fast-growing state like Ebonyi.
He also lauded the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Oguzor Offia-Nwali, for his achievements in the ministry.
Responding, Mr Offia-Nwali thanked the committee for the visit, noting that the Ebonyi pipe production industry had started production and was recording huge patronage.
The commissioner added that the industrial city under construction, when completed, would be a training point for Ebonyi youths.
He expressed gratitude to the committee for the meeting and assured the cooperation of the ministry.Â
