President Donald Trump was informed by Attorney General Pam Bondi that his name appeared in Department of Justice documents on disgraced paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein’s file, The Wall Street Journal reported.

WSJ exclusively reported on Wednesday that Mr Trump was informed of his name appearing multiple times in Mr Epstein’s file before the DOJ in May.

“When justice department officials reviewed what attorney general Pam Bondi called a ‘truckload’ of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein earlier this year, they discovered that Donald Trump’s name appeared multiple times,” WSJ Street reported, citing senior administration officials.

The newspaper also said Mr Trump was informed at a meeting that “many other high-profile figures were also named” in the Epstein files, and that the “files contained what officials felt was unverified hearsay about many people, including Trump, who had socialised with Epstein in the past.”

White House spokesman Steven Cheung, in a statement, dismissed the WSJ report as fake news pushed by Mr Trump’s opposition, the Democrats.

“This is nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media,” the statement reads.

There were no specifics on whether Mr Trump’s name was mentioned in connection to Mr Epstein’s crime. However, it comes barely a month after the president’s ally and tech billionaire Elon Musk accused him of refusing to release Mr Epstein’s files because his name featured in them.

In recent weeks, Mr Trump has come under pressure from both his MAGA supporters and the opposition to release the file.

In 2022, Mr Trump had said, “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”

Mr Epstein, a disgraced sex offender and financier of paedophiles, was first accused of sexually abusing underage girls in 2005. He served 13 months in jail.

In 2018, another round of investigation revealed about 80 sexual abuse by Mr Epstein and his associates. However, he died in detention in August 2019.
