Twitter begins testing for “dislike” button

Microblogging social media platform Twitter has introduced the “dislike” button feature to get feedbacks on the desirability of the function.
The app announced the commencement of the trial via their official page.
The feature will only be available to iOS systems, Twitter noted.
“Some of you on iOS may see different options to up or down vote on replies. We’re testing this to understand the types of replies you find relevant in a convo, so we can work on ways to show more of them. Your downvotes aren’t public, while your upvotes will be shown as likes,” Twitter posted.
Despite creating the dislike button, Twitter clarified that the number of dislikes on a tweet can only be seen by the author of the tweet unlike YouTube and other social media platforms.
Twitter explained that the purpose of this new feature is to emphasise on promoting replies that the tweet author finds “relevant” to the conversation.
“We’re testing this to understand the types of replies you find relevant in a convo, so we can work on ways to show more of them.”
According to reports, the test is presently being conducted on a few select Twitter users. However, Twitter is yet to confirm the duration of the test and when the dislike button will be officially launched.
