KWASU hands over converted electric vehicles to Kwara govt

The Kwara State University handed over two petrol-powered vehicles converted to electric vehicles to the Kwara Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Technology on Saturday.
The vehicles were presented by the vice-chancellor, Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, who was represented by the chairman of KWASU Hold-Co, Kenneth Adeyemi.
Mr Adeyemi described the initiative as a success that would promote environmental sustainability while adding economic value to society.
He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Technology for trusting KWASU with the project and assured that other vehicles would be ready by September 2025.
Mr Adeyemi also thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for giving KWASU the opportunity to demonstrate its capacity by converting government vehicles into functional electric ones.
“I wish to thank the governor and the commissioner for trusting KWASU and partnering with us on the electric vehicle conversion project.
“Kwara State University is a veritable centre of excellence in technology and innovation. This conversion is clear proof of technological and innovative possibilities supported by the Ministry.
“The operations and maintenance manual for the vehicles is ready, and we are prepared to train the drivers who will be using them,” Mr Adeyemi added.
The Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, Damilola Adelodun, expressed satisfaction with the work done and praised KWASU for the initiative and hard work that contributed to its success.
The commissioner received the vehicles’ keys during the handing-over ceremony, which was attended by members of KWASU Hold-Co and officials of the ministry.
