Chinese military marks WWII victory over Japanese aggressionWorld

A military symposium commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held in Beijing on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, Zhang Youxia, emphasised that a nation can only be secure if it possesses a strong military.
Mr Zhang stressed the importance of reinforcing the Communist Party’s absolute leadership over the armed forces.
He also underscored the need to enhance combat readiness and accelerate national defence and military modernisation through reforms, technological innovation, and improved governance.
In addition, Mr Zhang called for efforts to safeguard the post-World War II international order, promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, and uphold China’s role as a steadfast force for global peace. (Xinhua/NAN)
