Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade moves to PSG on two-year deal

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has completed a huge move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain Féminines, signing a two-year contract that runs until 2027.
The 25-year-old forward arrives in Paris on the back of an incredible summer, having led Nigeria to their historic tenth Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title. She was voted Player of the Tournament after captaining the Falcons to an unbeaten run in Morocco.
The skipper will now join her international teammate Jennifer Echegini on the Rouge et Bleu squad, with the French side announcing her arrival in a statement on Tuesday, August 25.
“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to welcome Nigerian striker Rasheedat Busayo Ajibade, who has signed a deal until 30 June 2027,” the club wrote.
Ms Ajibade described the move as a major step in her career. “I’m honoured to be part of PSG, one of Europe’s biggest clubs. My focus is to win trophies and to inspire young talents back home and around the world.” she said,
The Nigerian international makes the move from Spanish side Atlético Madrid, where she spent four and a half seasons after joining from Norwegian outfit Avaldsnes IL in January 2021.
During her time in Spain, she scored 40 goals in 139 appearances, helping the club secure the Spanish Super Cup in 2021 and the Copa de la Reina in 2023. Last season, she contributed eight goals and three assists in 25 matches.
Born in Mushin, Lagos, on December 8, 1999, Ms Ajibade began her career with FC Robo Queens, where she quickly established herself as one of Nigeria’s brightest prospects in African women’s football.
On the international stage, she has become a cornerstone of the Super Falcons, representing Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where the team reached the round of 16, and featured at the women’s football tournament during the Paris 2024 Olympics
