Gunmen abduct health worker in Ondo

Suspected gunmen have kidnapped Ayodeji Akesinro, a staff member at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, in Ondo State.
Mr Akesinro was reportedly whisked away on Thursday night from his residence in Upenme, Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The state commissioner of police, Adebowale Lawal, confirmed the incident, stating that security operatives were combing the bush to rescue Mr Akesinro.
“We are on top of the situation, and He (Akesinro) would be rescued unhurt,” Mr Lawal said.
There have been a series of kidnapping cases in the state, especially in the Akoko and Owo axis of the northern senatorial district. No fewer than five cases have been recorded between July and August this year.
Among the cases was the abduction of a staff member of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Omoniyi Eleyinmi, who was picked up at his private residence by suspected armed men.
