Kaduna farmer arrested for sodomy

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, ordered that a 38-year-old farmer, Nathan Dauda, who allegedly sodomised a 10-year-old boy, be remanded in a correctional centre.
The magistrate, Hajara Dauda, who did not accept Mr Dauda’s plea, ordered the police to duplicate the case file and send it to the state director of public prosecutions for legal advice.
Ms Dauda adjourned the case until September 30 for mention.
Mr Dauda, a resident of Calabar Street along Constitution Road, Kaduna, is facing a one-count charge of unnatural offence.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sunday Baba, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 28 at his residence.
According to Mr Baba, Samson Williams, of the same address as the defendant, reported the matter at Sabon Gari Police Station, Kaduna, on the same date.
The prosecutor said that the defendant lured his neighbour’s 10-year-old boy to the entrance of his house and forcefully had sexual intercourse with him.
Mr Baba said in the course of the investigation, the defendant confessed to the alleged offence, which contravened the provisions of Section 259 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2020 (as amended).
Section 259 prescribes castration or death for sodomy if found guilty.
