The police command in Enugu State has detained six male suspects for conspiracy, robbery, fraud and cultism in separate credible information-guided operations.

Police operatives also recovered two mini-buses, one motorcycle, 11 bank ATM cards, one laptop, and other incriminating exhibits from the suspects in the operations.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu on Saturday.

Mr Ndukwe said that between Aug. 25 and Sept. 4, 2025, operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad detained three suspects: John Joseph, 34, a.k.a. “Musa”; Kingsley Ubong, 40; and Kelvin Ogbonna, 43.

“One Daihatsu Hijet mini-bus (Chassis No. S321V 0112161) and a Kymstone motorcycle (Chassis No. LKIPCJL1XM1000263), both without registration or engine numbers, were recovered from them.

“Their detention followed the confession of one Chinedu Onwuka, earlier arrested in May 2025 for a similar offense, arraigned and remanded,” he said.

Mr Ndukwe said that similarly, on Sept. 2, 2025, at about 11:43 a.m., the same Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad operatives detained Sunday Egbuaba, 38, a suspected Junior Vikings Confraternity member.

He said, “A search at his residence led to the recovery of one HP laptop allegedly stolen from a male victim.

“His detention followed the confession of Ifeanyi Nnaji, 23, a Black Axe member already under investigation for conspiracy, burglary, stealing, and cultism.”

Mr Ndukwe said that in another operation on Aug. 30, 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., operatives attached to the Nsukka Urban Division rescued and detained Friday Nwaomege, 25, from a mob along Enugu Road, Nsukka.

He said that the suspect and two accomplices at large snatched a Bank ATM card from a male victim.

The suspect sustained mob-inflicted injuries before police intervention, was treated, and is now in custody.

“Recovered from him were 12 ATM cards of different banks and an ENTRACO-branded Daihatsu Hijet mini-bus (Reg. No. ENU 902 YS, Fleet No. R-04/12309), used for the operation and damaged by the mob.

“Efforts are ongoing to detain fleeing gang members and recover more exhibits.

“The suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations,” he said.

He said that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, had reassured the public of the command’s commitment to rid the state of crimes and criminal elements.

The spokesman urged citizens of the state to remain law-abiding, vigilant and supportive of the police.
