Two in court for allegedly stealing iron rods worth N600,000

Two men Christian Alex (22) and Umar Munda (32) were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing iron rods.
The defendants, whose home addresses were not provided, are facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offence on September 4 about 08:00 a.m in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants stole iron rods valued at N600, 000, belonging to one Olagunju Adeniyi.
Mr Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Counsel to the defendants, Busuyi Ayorinde, urged the court to grant the defendants bail with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until October 10 for hearing.
