The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says it arrested a 28-year-old graduate, Aina Ayotomide, for stealing a motorcycle in Ekiti.

Oluyemi Ibiloye, NSCDC state commandant, who said this on Wednesday in Akure, said Mr Ayotomide sold the motorcycle in Ondo.

Mr Ibiloye said that the suspect was arrested on September 10 at the Agbogbo area of Akure.

He said that the arrest was made through the operatives of the command’s intelligence unit while acting on credible information.

According to him, a wine-coloured Bajaj motorbike was recovered from the suspect at the point of arrest.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to stealing the motorbike at Nova School Area, Ado Ekiti, and brought the bike to Akure in order to sell it.

“The suspect further admitted that he stole the bike so as to raise the ₦130,000 his sister gave to him, but he lost it on Sporty bet.

“Meanwhile, the owner of the bike, Mr Amire Tope, who resides in Ado Ekiti, has since been alerted about the recovery of the bike and has identified the same to be his,” he said.

Mr Ibiloye said the command also arrested one Tope Andrew (30) of Olorunsogo, Yaba, Ondo Town, for forcibly entering a house and carting away solar lights, panels and unquantifiable iron metal scraps.

The commandant said the suspect was arrested on August 24 at Adebayo Compound, GRA, adding that the stolen properties belonged to one Prince Adewole.

According to him, the suspect has confessed to the crime with the intention of selling the stolen items.

“All the suspects are currently in lawful custody and will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigations,” he said.
