Ali Kalat, member representing the Jema’a constituency at the Jema’a State House of Assembly, has empowered no fewer than 200 youths and widows in his constituency with N10 million.

Mr Kalat made the donation at an event in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jema’a LGA.

The lawmaker, who is the minority leader of the House, stated that the initiative was in fulfilment of his campaign promise to provide support and relief to his constituents.

According to him, empowering the youths and widows had become necessary to keep them meaningfully engaged.

“This initiative is part of our efforts to keep our young ones away from crime and criminality. When the youths are engaged in productive ventures, the issue of insecurity is solved to a large extent,” he said.

He assured his constituents that he would continue to come up with programmes that have a direct bearing on their lives.

Dan Amos, member representing the Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, described Mr Kalat as a visionary leader who had the best interest of his people at heart.

Mr Amos then announced a donation of N5 million in support of the initiative, noting that leadership was about being responsive to the needs of the people.

The Kaduna State PDP chairman, Edward Marsha, commended the lawmaker for enhancing the image of the party through his activities.

Mr Marsha enjoined the beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously and urged other elected and appointed politicians to emulate the lawmaker in carrying people around them along.

Chairman of the planning committee, Amos Samaila, explained that 100 youths would receive a POS machine loaded with ₦50,000 each, while 100 widows would smile home with ₦50,000 each.

Two of the beneficiaries, Shamsudeen Abubakar and Stella Bawa, applauded Mr Kalat for the empowerment while assuring him of making judicious use of the money to boost their businesses.
