Jigawa govt approves N396 million fertiliser support for farmers

The Jigawa government has approved N396 million for the payment of fertilisers allocated to the state by the federal government.
Sagir Musa, Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, said this on Tuesday in Dutse, while briefing journalists on the outcome of the weekly State Executive Council (SEC) meeting.
He said the federal government allocated 12,000 bags of NPK fertilisers to the state at a subsidised rate of N33,000 per bag.
Mr Musa said the federal government’s intervention aimed to complement the state government’s efforts to boost agriculture under its 2025/2026 Dry Season Agricultural Programme.
According to Mr Musa, the federal government’s effort is a special intervention designed to cushion the impact of the rising cost of fertilisers and boost food production nationwide.
“This development is in line with Governor Umar Namadi’s administration’s commitment to agricultural transformation, with a specific focus on supporting smallholder farmers.
“The administration is also committed to increasing access to critical farm inputs for farmers and also enhancing food security, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” Mr Musa said.
