Bauchi police to begin enforcing tinted glass regulations October 2
The police command in Bauchi State will begin enforcement of tinted glass and siren regulations on Thursday, October 2.
Ahmed Wakil, the command’s spokesman, stated on Tuesday in Bauchi that the exercise was in line with federal directives aimed at ensuring compliance, promoting road safety, and protecting citizens’ rights.
He said police personnel would conduct the operation with utmost professionalism, civility, and respect for human rights, as well as compliance with the guidelines on the use of sirens, strobe lights, and vehicle number plates.
“Motorists are advised to carry essential vehicle documents such as driver’s licences, proof of ownership, and valid insurance during stop-and-search operations,” he said.
He urged drivers to ensure that tinted glasses meet legal transparency standards, as well as to remove unauthorised sirens and flashlights.
Mr Wakil said number plates must remain clear, legible, and securely attached at all times, warning that any form of tampering, including bending, covering, tinting, or flipping, would not be tolerated.
According to Mr Wakil, the clampdown is designed to curb road intimidation, eliminate illegal sirens, and enhance deterrence, thereby improving public safety.
He said area commanders and divisional police officers had been mobilised to closely supervise field operations to ensure due process and accountability and called for voluntary compliance.
