Barau awards scholarships to 1,000 indigent students in Kano

He said the annual scholarship scheme would cater for tuition and other academic needs of the students.

The deputy president of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has awarded scholarships to 1,000 indigent students of the Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano.

The initiative, implemented by the Barau I. Jibrin Foundation, aims to support students from Kano North Senatorial District.

Mr Barau said the annual scholarship scheme would cater for tuition and other academic needs of the students.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to Kano State, particularly in promoting education and other developments.

The senator pledged to extend the scholarship to students from Kano Central and Kano South in subsequent phases.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Abdullahi Tukur Kadage, lauded Mr Barau’s commitment to educational advancement, and appealed for support to expand the university’s infrastructure.
