Ekiti police deploy more operatives to enhance security

The Ekiti Police Command has deployed additional operatives across the state as part of measures to strengthen internal security and prevent possible breaches of peace.
A statement by the command’s public relations officer, SP Sunday Abutu, said the move followed recent security concerns in some neighbouring states.
Mr Abutu said the security beef-up involved the police, other security agencies, and local security outfits, with personnel deployed to all border areas, entry and exit points, as well as major locations in Ado-Ekiti and other towns.
He clarified that the personnel on duty were drawn from within Ekiti State and not brought in for any political purpose, dismissing speculations on social media.
Mr Abutu quoted the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, as urging residents to remain calm and go about their lawful activities, assuring them that the heavy presence of security operatives was purely to safeguard lives and property, not to intimidate citizens.
He also appealed for cooperation with security personnel and emphasized the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order across the state.
