The police command in Ebonyi has warned its cops against sharp practices and other acts capable of eroding public confidence in the force.

Adaku Uche-Anya, the police commissioner, gave the advice in Abakaliki on Thursday at the stakeholders’ interactive session to mark the 2025 Customer Service Week, tagged ‘Mission Possible’.

The stakeholders at the meeting include traditional rulers, the National Association of Nigerian Students, market associations, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers, among others.

Ms Uche-Anya also  urged the residents and motorists to desist from offering bribes to traffic officers. She noted that such actions were unlawful and damaging to officers, men, and society.

“That is corruption by the giver and the receiver. The motorists must also support the police to uphold respect for the law of the land and steer clear of giving bribes to the officers,” said the police chief.

Ms Uche-Anya added, “Motorists must make sure that their  vehicle’s papers are complete and up to date. Always ensure that your vehicle is fit for driving on the road,” she stated.

 Jonas Nwoba, the traditional ruler of Ndiechi, Igboagu community of Izzi LGA, commended the police for putting up the stakeholders meeting and urged them to make it a regular event.

 Uche Nkwe, the chairwoman of the International Market, said the police had done well in  ensuring security at the market, urging them to keep the flag flying. She  acknowledged that the police were actually their friend, especially with the existing peace at the international market.
