Nigeria to face Gabon in play-off for 2026 World Cup ticket

To qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria will face Gabon in a play-off in November.
“Our opponents for the African World Cup playoff semi-final are Gabon,” the Super Eagles disclosed this on Wednesday. “Win here, reach the final, and then the inter-confederation play-offs await.”
While South Africa secured their spot in the 2026 World Cup with a win against Rwanda on Tuesday, Nigeria could scrape by to the play-off after defeating the Benin Republic 4-0.
Like Nigeria, Gabon made it to the play-off by finishing second in their group with a 2–0 win against Burundi.
Meanwhile, Cameroon and DR Congo both emerged second in their respective groups and will also battle for a World Cup ticket in the play-off.
