Two men in court for alleged house breaking, theft
Two men, Gbadamosi Lukman (34) and Akande Tolulope (32), were on Wednesday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for an alleged house breaking and stealing.
The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a four-count charge bordering on house breaking and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Osuolale Yomi, told the court that the defendants and others at large, committed the offence on October 3 at about 1:00 p.m at Araromi St. in Ikere-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants and others at large broke and entered into the house of one Peke Idowu.
Mr Yomi also alleged that the defendants and others at large, stole cash sum of N257, 000, a pair of shirts and Jeans trouser valued at N30, 000, belonging to the complainant.
He said that the defendants and others at large committed another offence on Oct.10 at about 12:00 p.m at Araromi St. in Ikere-Ekiti.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendants and others at large broke and entered into the house of one Adewumi Abiodun.
He said that they stole a sum of N60, 000 belonging to the complainant.
According to him, the offences contravene Section 322(b) and 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Counsel to the defendants, Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety each in like sum.
She adjourned the case till November 19, for hearing.
