NUGA 2025: Aliko Dangote University targets strong performance in Jos

Over 50 athletes from Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, are set to participate in the forthcoming Nigerian University Games Association, scheduled to take place at the University of Jos, Plateau.
The director of Sports of the institution, Abdulsalam Abubakar, disclosed this during an interaction with newsmen on the university’s level of preparedness ahead of the competition.
Mr Abubakar said the athletes had been undergoing intensive training to make a strong impact at the games.
According to him, ADUST will feature in football, athletics, taekwondo, judo, tennis, table tennis, badminton, and volleyball events.
He commended the university’s management, led by the vice-chancellor, Musa Yakasai, for providing both moral and financial support to the sports directorate.
“The management has been very supportive. We are determined to justify their confidence by ensuring a successful outing for the university at the games,” he said.
Mr Abubakar also charged the athletes to exhibit discipline and sportsmanship during the competition to promote the positive image of the institution.
Mr Abubakar recalled that ADUST athletes delivered an impressive performance at the recent NUGA preliminaries in Wudil, where they competed alongside teams from Federal University Dutse, Northwest University, Jigawa State University, Kafin Hausa, and Bayero University Kano.
No fewer than 80 universities across the country are expected to participate in the 2025 NUGA Games, scheduled to run from November 5 to 16 in Jos.
