Gov Bago appoints new board members of Niger SUBEB

Governor Umaru Bago of Niger has approved the constitution of a new board for the state Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB).
A statement on Thursday by Abubakar Usman, the secretary to the Niger government (SSG), said the governor also approved the appointment of members of the Niger State Secondary Education Board (SSEB).
The governor had, on November 7, approved the immediate dissolution of NSUBEB, including the office of the secretary to the board.
Mr Usman said the move was part of ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning and strengthening the education sector to improve efficiency, accountability, and service delivery.
According to the statement, the newly constituted NSUBEB has Ibrahim Liman as chairman, while other members include Monday Emigi, Mohammed Mudi, Samuel Makotso, Malik Madaki Bosso, and Mohammed Mamman-Auna.
He said that Aminu Wushishi has been appointed as the secretary of the board.
Mr Usman said for the SSEB, Abdulkadir Isah-Nafuntuwa was appointed chairman, while other members are Mohammed Evuti, Salihu Danladi, Yusuf Salka, Yinti Usman, and Abubakar Garo.
He added that Ahmed Egbako would serve as the board’s secretary.
The SSG said the governor congratulated the appointees and urged them to bring their experience and professionalism to bear in advancing the government’s vision of transforming the education sector under the New Niger Agenda.
He also charged the new boards to ensure transparency, prudent management of resources, and effective implementation of policies aimed at improving teaching and learning outcomes across the state.
The SSG reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring the pride of the education sector as a foundation for sustainable human capital development in Niger.
