Thunderstorms, cloudiness expected across Nigeria Friday to Sunday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and cloudiness from Friday to Sunday across the country.
NiMet’s weather outlook released on Thursday in Abuja predicted thunderstorms over parts of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi and Kaduna States in the morning hours on Friday.
According to it, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Kano and Yobe States later in the day.
“Cloudy skies with intermittent rains are anticipated over parts of Niger, Kogi, Benue, Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory in the morning hours.
“Later in the day, there are also prospects of thunderstorms with rains over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kwara, Niger and Kogi States.
“Cloudy condition is expected over the inland and the coastal region with rains over parts of Lagos, Ogun, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Osun, Ondo and Bayelsa States in the morning hours,” it said.
The agency anticipated rains over parts of Edo, Ondo, Imo, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Cross River and Delta States in the afternoon and evening hours.
NiMet forecast cloudy conditions on Saturday with few thunderstorms over parts of Jigawa, Yobe, Kaduna and Bauchi States in the morning hours.
“Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Kebbi and Sokoto States.
“Thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Niger, Kogi, Benue, Kwara and the Federal Capital Territory in the morning hours.
“There are prospects of thunderstorms over the region in the afternoon and evening hours, ” it said.
According to NiMet, cloudy skies are expected over the inland and the coastal cities of the South with isolated rains over parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom in the morning hours.
It envisaged rains over parts of Ondo, Enugu, Edo, Abia, Cross Rivers, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa States in the afternoon and evening hours.
It predicted thunderstorms on Sunday, over parts of Sokoto, Katsina and Zamfara in the morning hours.
“Further into the day, thunderstorms are expected over Gombe, Bauchi, Jigawa and Kaduna States in the afternoon and evening hours.
“The North-Central region should be predominantly cloudy with rains over parts of Benue and Kogi States in the morning hours.
“Later in the day, there are prospects of thunderstorms with rains over parts of Niger, Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory in the afternoon and evening hours.
“The inland and the coastal cities of the South should be predominantly cloudy in the morning,” it said.
NiMet forecast prospects of rains over parts of Edo, Ondo, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia, Lagos, Rivers, Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom States in the afternoon and evening hours.
