Abia: Gov Otti committed to developing sports, says commissioner

The commissioner for youth and sports in Abia, Nwaobialor Ananaba, says the state government under Governor Alex Otti is committed to sports development.
Mr Ananaba disclosed this in Aba during a boxing championship held at the Aba Sports Club.
The event, promoted by Ikeuj Boxing Promotion and sponsored by the Abia government, was the first of its kind in the state.
The commissioner said the government was deliberately working on developing more youths through sports and would stop at nothing to achieve its target.
Also, the president of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, Rafiu Oladipo, thanked the promoter for his steadfastness in helping young boys and girls discover their boxing talents.
He urged the state government to assist the promoter in discovering, harnessing, and producing great boxers in the state and beyond.
A young boxer, Chinaza Okoronkwo, son of the promoter, who won the national lightweight challenge by unanimous decision, said he won the fight but was not satisfied with his low performance.
Also, Zoe Okoronkwo, who won the national featherweight challenge by Technical Knockout against Nwambeke Ndubisi, said his target was to be a national and world champion.
