Bauchi sponsors 356 Christians for 2025 pilgrimage
The Bauchi State Government has announced the sponsorship of 356 Christians for the 2025 pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan.
Governor Bala Mohammed made the announcement on Sunday during a farewell address for the intending pilgrims in the state.
Represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, Mr Mohammed said the pilgrimage offers participants the opportunity to pray for forgiveness, describing it as a spiritual exercise.
He noted the state government’s commitment to citizens’ welfare, adding that adequate arrangements had been made for pilgrims’ security, transportation, food, accommodation, and medical needs while in the holy land.
Mr Mohammed urged the pilgrims to observe the tenets of the exercise for a seamless and rewarding experience.
He further called on appointed officials to perform their duties diligently and give maximum attention to the welfare and safety of the pilgrims.
He added, “The spiritual purpose of the pilgrimage should not be overshadowed by worldly pleasures or overindulgence. It is a journey to commune with God and witness Biblical relics, strengthening pilgrims’ faith and affirming the truth of Biblical stories. By the end, participants will be spiritually renewed.
“While congratulating you for having the opportunity to visit the Holy Land, I urge you to respect the laws of your host countries and avoid any actions that could compromise the integrity of our state and nation.”
Earlier, Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (CPWB), Ibrahim Gwallang, thanked the governor for his consistent support and fairness.
He praised Mr Mohammed’s inclusive leadership and his efforts in promoting justice and equity among all faiths, particularly through the annual sponsorship of Christian pilgrims.
Mr Gwallang explained that necessary arrangements for the pilgrimage had been concluded, including feeding, accommodation, transportation, and welfare.
He added that the pilgrims were scheduled to depart from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Monday, December 29.
