Shooting Stars dazzle, beat Bendel Insurance 1-0 in Ibadan

Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Oyo State, beat Bendel Insurance of Benin City 1-0 in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 22 clash on Sunday.
Bendel Insurance were under sustained pressure from the hosts and vocal fans as thousands packed the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, for the historic fixture.
In the 30th minute, Tijani Kabir’s cross found Lucky Emmanuel, but the forward failed to direct his effort on target.
Coach Nurudeen Aweroro reshaped Shooting Stars in the 60th minute, introducing Tunde Azeez and Qamar Adegoke for Alex Aghahowa and Emmanuel.
Goalkeeper Emmanuel Ofori produced a fine double save in the 65th minute, denying Qamar Adegoke before the midfielder struck minutes later.
Adegoke broke the deadlock in the 71st minute, sealing a 1-0 victory and maximum points for Shooting Stars.
The win moved Shooting Stars to sixth on the league table with 35 points from 22 matches.
Rivers United lead with 41 points from 21 matches, ahead of Nasarawa United, 38 points, and Abia Warriors, 37 points; both from 22 matches.
