Gunmen kill 11 people during football game in Mexico
At least 11 people were shot and killed by gunmen who opened fire during a football game in central Mexico on Sunday, local media reported on Monday.
In addition to those killed, 12 others were wounded.
People were playing football when the gunmen arrived in two vehicles and opened fire on those present, the newspaper El Sol de Salamanca reported, citing local authorities.
The motive for the attack in the state of Guanajuato was not immediately known.
Police reportedly collected at least 100 shell casings.
Guanajuato had Mexico’s highest homicide rate in 2025.
