The Kogi government has assured the management of the National Boundary Commission (NBC) of continued partnership and support towards resolving boundary disputes in the state.

Deputy Governor Joel Salifu gave the assurance in Lokoja on Wednesday during a working visit by the management of NBC to his office.

Mr Salifu, who is also the chairman of the Kogi State Boundary Committee, received the delegation led by the Director-General of the commission, Adamu Adaji.

The deputy governor, who described the visit as timely, said that Kogi shares boundaries with about 10 states, making boundary management critical to the state.

He assured the commission of the government’s continued partnership and support in resolving boundary issues.

Earlier in his address, Mr Adaji said the commission planned to organise a stakeholders’ workshop involving Kogi State and its neighbouring states to address boundary-related issues and improve cooperation.

The DG said that state and local boundary committees play a key role in sensitising communities and providing data for effective boundary delineation and called for stronger collaboration with the state.

Mr Adaji commended the state government for its sustained commitment to boundary matters.
