Man, 24, arraigned over alleged house breaking, theft

The police in Ekiti State on Thursday arraigned a 24-year-old man, Fasiku Pelumi, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged house breaking and stealing.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a two-count charge of house breaking and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 14, 2026, at about 03:00 p.m in Ikole-Ekiti.
Mr Adeniyi alleged that the defendant broke into the house of one Ogundola Olawale.
He also alleged that the defendant stole bricklayer tools and cement valued at N150,000 belonging to the complainant.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 325 and 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until February 18 for hearing.
