An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday, sentenced a 20-year-old man, Julius Lekan, to one week imprisonment for stealing roofing sheets worth N50,000.

The Chief Magistrate, Kehinde Awosika, sentenced Lekan following his guilty plea and facts of the case.

Mr Awosika held that the convict was a first-time offender and that the item he stole had been recovered.

The prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adejare, told the court that Lekan committed the offence on January 25 at about 10:00 a.m at Ekiti State Fountain Agricultural Marketing Agency, Agric Olope in Ado-Ekiti.

Mr Adejare said that the victim stole four pieces of used roofing sheet valued at N50,000 belonging to one Adegboyega Oluwabusola.

He added that the convict confessed to the crime and the police recovered the used roofing sheet.

According to him, stealing contravenes Section 302 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
