NPFL: Wikki Tourists, Nasarawa United share spoils in Bauchi

Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi and Nasarawa United FC of Lafia played out a 1–1 draw in a Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 24 fixture at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, on Sunday.
Nasarawa United took the lead in the 28th minute when Izuchukwu Chimezie capitalised on a defensive error to score.
Wikki Tourists equalised in the 41st minute through Jonathan Mairiga, as both teams went into the break on equal terms.
The match was keenly contested, with both sides displaying tactical discipline and determination.
Wikki Tourists had the chance to take the lead in the second half but failed to convert a penalty, as the remainder of the encounter ended without further goals.
The draw leaves Wikki Tourists with 28 points from 24 matches, placing the team 14th on the NPFL table.
A sports analyst, Bala Sani, described the match as exciting, adding that Nasarawa United displayed better technical organisation and appeared well-prepared for the fixture.
Reacting after the match, Wikki Tourists’ chief coach, Bala Saleh, attributed his team’s performance to fatigue.
Saleh said the fatigue resulted from the three consecutive matches they played, but expressed optimism ahead of their next game against Katsina United.
Also speaking, Nasarawa United’s assistant coach, Stephen Moga, commended his players for their professionalism, saying they executed the game plan effectively despite the pressure of playing away.
