Iranian military strikes Kurdish groups in Iraq

The Iranian military said it had targeted Kurdish groups in neighbouring Iraq.
Three missiles were fired at the headquarters of opposition groups, the state news agency IRNA reported on Thursday, citing the military leadership in Tehran.
Iranian propaganda channel Press TV released videos that it said showed impacts at the positions of “anti-Iranian separatists”.
U.S. media recently reported that President Donald Trump was considering arming Kurdish groups to incite an uprising against Iran’s leadership.
The White House denied the reports.
However, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Mr Trump had spoken with Kurdish leaders in the region regarding the U.S. base in northern Iraq.
The Kurds are an ethnic group of an estimated 30 million people living primarily in Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey.
They have fought for decades for their own state and were long persecuted and suppressed in Iraq, Iran, and Turkey.
The autonomous Kurdish region in Iraq was established following the ousting of dictator Saddam Hussein in 2003.
