Two women and three children were abducted on Sunday by bandits in Fellegi village in the Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.

A community source who spoke to the Peoples Gazette on Sunday said gunmen invaded the village at about 3:00 a.m and shoot indiscriminately to scare the villagers.

“When the bandits invaded the community there were no vigilantes to repel the attack. They took two mothers and three children,” he told The Gazette.

The source stated that the attackers operated for almost hours.

“They went away with nursing and pregnant mothers and their three children. They haven’t contacted us since the abduction,” he stated.

The villager called for adequate security intervention in the town and neighbouring villages in Mashegu.

The state police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached for comments.

The text and WhatsApp messages sent to his phone were not replied as of the time this report was filed.
